Why can't time walk, why must it fly?
That was the question that my eldest daughter asked in all her wisdom one afternoon, half way through the recent one week school holiday as she started to lament at having to get back to her hectic school routine and not being able to have her daily lie-ins in bed.
I had no answer for her.
Instead, I too began to ponder on how fast time just flies by us.
It wasn't all that long ago that Mr T and I were in the beginnings of Couplehood time.
Wedding bells soon chimed and Couplehood progressed to Parenthood, where we would spend hours just cooing over our little wonder girl, in all her cuteness.
She was our only child for 4 years as we had trouble conceiving for some time (ironic isn't it, given that we were then blessed with our unexpected double blessing in 2009/2010). Now our first born is fast approaching puberty and has 3 other siblings with whom to play with, squabble with and muck around with. Yes, life is really hectic in our household.
I call it Our Zoo.
Our Zoo contains a whole variety of individuals.
From the honourable Rat to the temperamental Ox, to the fiery-sometimes sulky Dragon and the mischievious and whining Monkey and the gifted Rooster, from the noisy lizards and the annoying little ants to the super-annoying mosquitoes and nuisance-causing cockroaches and rodents.
We do welcome the frogs that visit us on occasions!
Though I am sure the neighbours can hear my yells of frustration at children whining to get what they want, or me shelling out disciplinary orders to misbehaving children to ensure some sort of law and order at the Zoo, and though i cherish the peace and quiet of the night when the kids are all tucked in bed, Mr T and I wouldn't have it any other way.
It is no doubt tiring to raise 4 beautiful children with very different characters, but it is also very fulfilling. Challenging, but fulfilling.
With our hectic lives, we sometimes forget to just drop everything and take a few moments to smell the flowers and admire its beauty. Amidst the chaos, i do have to make the extra effort at times to just stop and enjoy the moment. We all must make sure that we do take the time each day, to smell the beautiful flowers that surround our lives.
Live well. Laugh often. Love always.
Because Time flies.
No matter how much we sometimes wish Time would just walk.
Down memory lane...
See just how big my head is....
The Zoo Keeper and her troupe
I kept this little piece of doodling that Ying Han drew when she was 8.
It says it perfectly.
~ Written from the heart
from a mother-of-four who just can't believe how fast her youngest baby has grown in just a couple of blinks of her tired eyes. At 14 months, the Little One is STILL waking up at night for his 3-4 hourly feeds. To make up for his nightly "monstrous activities", he does everything cute and adorable in the day time which just puts a smile on the tired faces of his mother and nanny.
